Did the test where I tried to drive with the parking brake on and can't say that the engine moved to much.
But, I suppose the engine mounts may still be the cause.
Any other way to check the mounts are ok?

my pug used to be like this, it was the lower gbox mount, on the golf, the front subframe mount is the likely suspect - but you can usually see play in the engine if someone holds on the handbrake and drops the clutch sharply.

edit: theres also that little spaceship shaped affair which regulates the throttle (iirc) the overrun cutoff valve..? mine doesn't make a different if this line is connected or not, but it might be the case on yours..

I have this on mine, tuned all new mounts, bnew throttle cable etc etc still does it.  Been told worn driveshafts can casue it, wouldnt be surprised since they are 177k old now, next thing on me list of things to do!
