Performance
« on: 02 October 2007, 19:15 »
Hi guys ,

Any comments and advice appreciated.Bought MK 5 GTi  in June this year ,currently 4,500 kms on clock.I mention the mileage because rightly or wrongly because it is only now that I am giving it some hammer. Here in lies the problem in that there is something lacking compared to my 05 Gti in overall   performance, the raw urge just appears to be missing, especially in lower gears( 6sp manual) It was at the dealers today and they could find no irregular readings on their equipment, they even showed me the printout.

Some member mentioned a bedding in period for the VAG engines but my previous  GTi was animal from day one .If the dealer cant find anything where do I turn to next, buy back my 05?

Help please,

Eric.

Theres an acceptable tolerance on all engines produced. Maybe you had a blinder first time a round and something nearer the lower tolerance now. Just a thought if the stealer reeckons its OK.

i'd put it on a rolling road to see what its producing, then the fault if there is one can be found

Rolling road it.

If output is below par it could be the dreaded diverter valve fault.

Thanks guys for responses .The last comment mentioned  a diverter valve problem ,  would this or should this not  have been picked up by dealers equipment?

A Faulty diverter valve doesn't always show a fault code.  :nerd:
