If you ask me they look much better with the 16v splitter, a badged grille, a little bit of lowering and possibly an eyebrow spoiler. Still prefer the golf front end though 

Something like this then. I think the colour/base spec bumpers make a difference too. I also reckon they look a bit to plasticy and slab fronted without a badge or eyebrow. As for squarer type lights, rallye front end is still my favourite on a mk2.

big bumper versions perhaps can get away with it more so than the small bumper one's, but tbh, cant beat the good old round lights...
