GTI Driver!?!
« on: 30 September 2007, 10:43 »
hey,

just have a few questions about the whole gti thang! my 1.6 driver is really solid, no rust, underneath had no rust etc, it has been keyed but im getting that resprayed soon and all the dents pulled out.

Basically when the bumpers are sprayed and the GTI spoiler is fitted it will look like a GTi from the outside. I was wondering if it would be possible to fit some GTI side strips instead of the standard ones? also im looking at putting a 1.8 8v engine in her some time but would it just be easier to sell the 1.6 and but a GTI?

thanks for an replies

Owning a driver myself, i'v thought the same thing many times! I'v come to the conclusion theres no point making a car you can buy though. I'm considering a 2.0 16v conversion, which maybe you should too , or buy a gti mate! Theres only so much fun to be had in a driver

You need to change the fuel tank, Rear axle, Engine Depending on which engine you fit you may have to weld certain brackets on plus change the wiring loom!!!!! And on top ofthat the insurance may be higher than for a normal GTi! Never build a car you can buy!!!!! What about fitting a two litre from a mk4 golf Gti with the cross flow head and hanging a big set of webers of the front?????
