I thought the hub rotated? So what is the part that has the bearings pushed into it and has the disc serured to it and what part has the caliper bolted to it??  :undecided: I'm feeling a little dumb right about now  :embarassed:

here is a pic of a hub - the outer is fixed to wishbone & front strut - caliper carrier also attaches to the fixed bit. the centre bit spins freely & is what the brake disc is attached too. the wheel bearing is pressed into the hub & the drive shaft goes into the back of the hub & secured at the front with the hub nut

To anyone who is interested I ask Mr rubjohnny if the 8v and 16v hubs where compatible for this conversion.....

.........

Its easy to tell the difference between the 256/280 & 239mm type, the 239 hub & carrier is all one piece, whereas the 256/280 carrier unbolts from the hub :)

so there you have it! I need the 16v hub then, where is the nearest scrapper.....  :undecided:

Thanks Johnny

ok, so if i get some 280MM caliper carriers, and use my 16v calipers with the 280MM disc (shaving the pads down by a few MM) will BBS RA's fit then?

Mk2 16v is off the road :(  Mk3 8v has taken its place :)
