Do the revs hold at that or do they drop back down?
Only when cold or all the time?
My first thoughts are a shagged ISV but if you can give more details then i will see if i can help.

my revs starting playing up the other day and guess what it was it was the throttle sensor wire this had snapped ive crimped it so many times.......

so this may be the problem on yours this detecs if the throttle is closed if the wire has broke then it thinks the throttle is open! tugg the wire slightly as it can snap inside the vw plastic sleeving! otherwise the wire looks ok...

Try disconnecting the ISV.

Go to a scrappy and find another ISV. I suspect this is your problem , if not then it must be a vacuum leak.

Until you get another ISV, you may find that you can keep it disconnected and up the idle so it doesn't stall..........I'm sure it was Dizzie that did the same recently.
Alternatively, if you live nearby (Yateley), I have a spare ISV you could try.

I'v found by dissconeting the coolant tempeature sensor and screwing the idle screw right out i can get it to idle at 1100.Does this give any one any clues to whats up.If this is going to be the best i can do until i get a ISV is this going to effect the car in any way?

I can't see how you'll do any great harm, just maybe less efficient, however I have to admit I'm not as up to speed on the in's and out's of the digifant fuel system.

If it were me I would make sure you have THOROUGHLY cleaned the ISV and throttle body, check your throttle valve switches and thoroughly check for vaccuum leaks. If the ISV is humming/vibrating then I would have thought that it is working, especially as the car stalled when you disconnected it.

Have you seen my write up on this:-
