an air bag light is not a faliure. god if every car that came with its air bag light on failed i would be a rich man. vosa do not seem it fit to use as a faliure. but ABS is correct it will fail but like what has been said clean the senors, then here is main dealer trick we used remove both battery terminals hold them togehter for 5 mins this removes any fault codes stored, do not let the terminals touch the battery. and light should go out.

cheers for the link, had a look, but being 6 months pregnant not sure im gunna be doing that! do u think 150 quid is a rip off, should i go to another garage?

£150 bloody rip off 20mins work and £35.00 for sensor includining diag, would charge £80.00

Oh, and on the subject of pulling bulbs out, I was looking at old MOT certs for my car and it failed once (before I had it) on "ABS light does not illuminate" as well as other things... so I guess it depends on the tester as to whether they check the bulbs illuminate for the self-test when you start the car, but you shouldn't rely on pulling the bulb getting it thru the MOT.

My mums car passed with the ABS light on last month.  How did that happen ?  I can't remember what she said, it was mentioned but nothing was done about it. It's been on for about 3 years now and I think it has passed the previous tests too!

Its a bit of sod but as the first of august when printing out the test sheet it gives you the sequence of the ABS light from turning on igntion to starting engine this is cause every car is diffrent, on any VAG in should be on then start engine and go out after 6 secs. any diffrent and it will fail. a quick dia scan will pull up fault code on abs
