Hi all,

New to the forum though probably should have been here longer since I have a long history of Golf’s (mainly mk2's) just acquired another one. Rather pleased with myself as I've found a 1.8 Synchro in black with a 16v gti engine in it and G60 suspension (car might be known here as someone has put time into it?). I have big plans for the car to make better use of the 4 wheel drive but more on that later..

Anyway the car came with some interesting bodywork as it has no handles on the doors (electric push button release) and a completely flat boot (number plate is in the rear bumper and electric release again). This sort of thing isn't really my taste and I am ordering some new genuine doors and a boot from VW to put it back to standard but the work has been done to a pretty high standard and I'm sure there must be someone out there who would love it?? Anyone know of such a chap I might be able to sell it to at a v.fair price?

Secondly I'm desperately searching for some golf rally rear hubs so that I can convert the drums  to disks before I start playing with engine ideas . Does anyone know where I might source some or can think of another option for converting to disks??

Regards,

Ben

Sorry bud, can't help you on any of that but it sounds like a nice car and your plans sound like it will be even better when you're done. Welcome to the forum.

is there a desperate need for rallye hubs? surely you can put it on the valver set up on the rear or the g60 setup on the rear which are pretty easy to get hold of aswell... ebay is usually littered with them. let me know how you get on tho as ive just done exactly the same thing, alltho mine is just a shell and running gear and she also needs putting on rear disks. so i can put my soon to be aquired oettinger in it!

I'm having some worries at the moment and not sure how to proceed. I'm sure all will be sorted in the long run but at the moment I'm strugling with where to go with the project. The original idea was a VR6 turbo or supercharged engine.

Dubsport seemed to think that with the Vr6 engine would be easy to drop in but unfortunately I then spoke to Stealth racing who think the gearbox will not match up with the existing rear gearbox ratio's and the wheels will
spin at different speeds! they say I've got to stick to a 4cylinder which will mesh into the existing gearbox. Personally I'm not entirely sure about that theory but I will probably need to investigate before I go bolting a Supercharged Vr6 engine in.
