Mystery wire
« on: 21 September 2007, 15:15 »
Can anyone identify this wire?
Its from somewhere on the steering column, but I cant see where it came from once I'd disconnected it. (School boy error)

Could it be something to do with the indicators?
When Im indicating, theres no ticking, and the lights dont flash.

So where on the column does it plug into?
Had a good look under there and cant see anything to plug it into. (Which probably means its dead obvious)

move the steering wheel to left lock so your hands would be half twelve, then take a look down the indicator side with the shroud off, the socket for this is recessed kind of at twenty to! you have to look up from the footwell clutch side to see what i mean. Trial and error and working things out yourself, you may not have pulled this plug or it came out by itself, but theres a place for it somewhere and you got the general jist of where and what its for. Good luck, just be patient and take your time, plastic trim on cars our age break to easily, so if it won't come apart or go in, stop and take a closer look use a torch so many of us struggle without one when we can already see whats there but the torch shows up everything.

Found it in the end, what an arse it was too!
Would have been nigh on impossible to see without a torch!
