Suspension brands, which one..?
« on: 22 August 2007, 20:25 »
Yo people, just powerflex'd up my GTI all round front and rear's on front lower arms and the two on the rear beam. I have to say OH MY DAYS it has made a massive i meen "massive" difference to road handling, braking and cornering and even on bumpy roads, she use to rattle well loads with the original bushes which were still in good shape.
Fitting them was easy just took my time, undid the roll bar bracket on lower arm, ball joint on hub, front bush bolt and the two bolts holding the rear bush and roll bar, tapped it with a hammer then it popped into my hand. Hit the old bushes a few times with the hammer and they were out, greased up the new ones and slipped them on then re placed the lower arm. I took my time got it done in two hours.

Now im looking at suspension, i have bilsteins all round with jamex springs these are non adjust type that were budget. Not sure what to get either:
kw, fk, avo or bilstein adjustable coilovers? I have seen these cheap coilovers on ebay which are from germany around 250 mark but think these are not going to last.

What you guys think? Dont forget i have not done the roll bars yet and strut braces so need to watch the price a little.

Many thanks
Dan

i think at the end of the day, the cheap coilovers are great as a short term ting, and if your not planning on keeping the car. if your planning on keeping the car, then i think its best to spend the money and get quality, also remember buying from the internet is cheaper, bu you don't have anyone you can go and see if you have problems, which can cause further issues in the case of a problem. But i think i'll be buying mine from the internet.

Look after the coilovers and they'll look after you! :)

Let us know what you buy and ho you get on. :)
