just ahd mine done by celtic tuning, pulls all the way up to red in every gear and is a hell of alot smoother, dont dare look at the sepedo coz ill have to take my eyes off the road

i did have to run it in for around 100miles and all the time you could feel it getting faster. so maybe revo require longer running in period?

also my repmap only cost 350quid and the guy came to my work with his computer!! haha

That sounds fantastic !

....Much better to use a rolling road, then take the car out on the road with a laptop, and then rolling road it again a couple of weeks later when the remap has had a chance to settle. A guy turning up somewhere with a laptop doesn't inspire my confidence. Superchips used to do that and IIRC there were problems.

I agree. I had emission and pinking problems on my previous car when a man with lappy came to remap.

I also looked at Celtic Tuning and nearly got sucked in by the 265bhp/£350. I asked if he had a dyno, he said yes but its in Ireland. I also asked for a torque/BHP graph for his remap. After a couple of reminders he did email me one. It was exactly the same graph that is on the Milltek website showing the curves for a GTI with a full Milltek
If the map is written over by VW after a service etc.. he charges £50 for a reflash. If that doesnt work and he needs to send the file away, it's £120 for the reflash.
After doing much research, in my opinion Revo seemed best. It was £240 more, but to me it was worth paying the extra. They have good tech support and the reflashes are free.

The other thing which a good tuner (like Revo) will do is check out how your engine is before installing the remap. Revo's software takes the latest VW updates into account because they recieve them soon after the dealer does. Very much worth the extra dosh in my opinion and cost still on a par with other good tuning companies.

Sorry, but I'm just sharing my opinions

Yup, agreed.

Like all these "custom" laptop remaps, when something on your car goes bang, they will simply deny all liability.  They will probabaly state "we've done many other custom GTI remaps, and not had a problem, so it must be your driving style".  :smug:

Not worth the risk at all, IMHO.

....Aftersales service is all important. I'm happy in the confidence and knowledge that both my Revo agent JKM and Revo themselves will give me continued support

Yup, agreed.  If I were to add anything to that statement, I would say that robust aftersales is absolutely vital, particularly when you are dealing with aftermarket modifications, which may have an effect on the manufacturers warranty!

I'ts refreshing to find that there are still companies who know the value of good 'ole fashioned customer service.
