Misfire- diving me crazy! need help!
« on: 20 August 2007, 23:51 »
Hi everybody, I bought my 85 k-jet mk2 back in January as a non runner- got it running after I put the fuel lines on the right way round!

Anyway, I got it running, but ever since, it has had a misfire at around 2000 rpm....

I got so cheesed off with it that the car has spent the last 5 months living under the tree in corner of the drive, however I'm getting pressure to sort it or sell it, so in the last couple of weeks it's had....

-new air filter
-new fuel filter
-new plugs
-new leads
-new rotor arm
-new dissy cap
-new fuel lift pump
-secondhand metering head
-secondhand WUR
-secondhand cold start valve

Had a compression test done tonight, readings were:
163
164
166
168

And still the misfire persists....SOMETIMES it clears completley and runs smooth and well, but when the engine is turned off and back on, the misfire returns, also, the idle is a bit unstable...

It runs fine above 2000 rpm, and pulls like a train
Has anyone got any ideas? my mum and my missus are hassling me to get rid, cos it's never been right....any help would be greatly appreciated!

have you checked your injectors? that was the main cause with mine!  Also Forte treatment helped mine settle down too.  Always worth a try.  Hope it helps
