splitting engine / gearbox
« on: 16 August 2007, 17:23 »
so my engine out, ive undone all the required (3?) bolts, but i cant split the engine / box for the life of me. i know captain haynes says keep it level, but how the fcuk can i do that when the engine wont even sit level on the ground or on the hoist.  Ive wiggled it, pulled it, sworn at it, and even hit it with a hammer.

im at wits end, any tips?

HI PAL
IT SEEMS TO BE THAT YOUR GEARBOX IS STUCK ON THE DOWELS IN THE BLOCK
PUT A PRY BAR UP THE SIDE OF THE FLYWHEEL UNDERNEITH AND GENTLY WIGGLE
WITH OUT THE USE OFF HAMMERS   THEY TEND TO BREAK UNWANTED THINGS LOL

:nerd: I take it you mean the 3x big fat 17-19mm bolts, you also need to take off 3x 10mm bolts as well, they hold the umm... :undecided:  metal plate thing between the gearbox & engine.

theres another bolt right at the back of the gearbox next to the passenger side drive shaft, its easy to miss :)
