splitting engine / gearbox

so my engine out, ive undone all the required (3?) bolts, but i cant split the engine / box for the life of me. i know captain haynes says keep it level, but how the fcuk can i do that when the engine wont even sit level on the ground or on the hoist.  Ive wiggled it, pulled it, sworn at it, and even hit it with a hammer.

im at wits end, any tips?

IT SEEMS TO BE THAT YOUR GEARBOX IS STUCK ON THE DOWELS IN THE BLOCK
PUT A PRY BAR UP THE SIDE OF THE FLYWHEEL UNDERNEITH AND GENTLY WIGGLE
WITH OUT THE USE OFF HAMMERS   THEY TEND TO BREAK UNWANTED THINGS LOL
LET US KNOW HOW YOU GET ON

  I take it you mean the 3x big fat 17-19mm bolts, you also need to take off 3x 10mm bolts as well, they hold the umm...   metal plate thing between the gearbox & engine.

theres another bolt right at the back of the gearbox next to the passenger side drive shaft, its easy to miss
