Yeah they are very informed over at diesel car.  I agree with that comment to a point (I assume you're referring to the summary at the bottom of the report).  I think the main thing is that with the 130 being ?1,500 cheaper than the 150, it would indeed be the best all rounder for most people.

I think the other couple points of comparison were the engine noise and the extra turbo-lag on the 150.  I love the sound of my 150's engine personally, not when it's starting up from cold though, but when it's warmed up and accelerating past traffic!  I'm not going to comment on the turbo-lag cos I've never driven the 130, so i have no idea how different they are.  Then there are many things they aren't compared on, such as road handling, which as I understand it is substantially better on the 150 due to the lowered suspension.

My view is that although the 130 is an excellent car and i would never say never to getting one, if, and it's a big if, money is not so much of an issue, and you have your heart set on a VW diesel, and you're not driving miss daisy which means the refinement difference doesn't bother you as much, then I cannot see why someone would choose the 130 over the 150.

Perhaps someone who has driven both could comment on the report??

Oh yeah i agrea,

If my company car allowance had stretched i would have gone for the 150,

But after seeing one last weekend i seriously think that if i leave my job as planned in july i will buy for myself, a 150 Anniversary + get it chipped,

Can i ask something else, You say yoyu don't liek yours on cold start up, mine sounds really rough on a cold morning and you think its an old mk3 escort you are driving, Is the sh!tty tappy start up on all TDi's, mine is only 3 months old so not a dodgy old one, anyone else have noisey one??

Yeah, mine's v noisy from cold start.

Once warm and out of first gear you can't tell is a diesel though.

Yeah, People look out their windows thinking 'I don't remember ordering a taxi'!

A couple of times as well I've almost stalled when I've rolled up slowly to a junction and then pulled out in 2nd gear when the engine is still ice cold because I've not given it enough revs, you have to really rev the bastard.

Its not just mine that does that then?!

I've pulled onto rouundabouts in 2nd, at very low speeds, put my foot to the deck and its taken a good 5 seconds before anything actually happens!

It certainly needs s few revs when cold if you wanna make any progress!
