Hi Guys, well I've had my GTi for almost 9 months now and have revived it from being an old heap to a reasonably decent car, but I'm bored and want a change. The next car on the books is a 1.8 Mazda Eunos, I've been converted by the roof-down rwd tribe. Most importantly, I'm going to be selling my GTi now, so how much do you kids think its worth.

1986 1.8 8v K-Jet
Its had a full respray in metallic black (originally met. green)
Good condition original Rainbow interior (I will be removing the yellow leather)
160k on the clocks, starts first time every time
Electric windows, alarm, immobiliser
Rear tinted windows
Brand new 195/45/15 Uniroyal Rainsports on chrome deep dish 6 spokes
Dropped 60mm on 6 month old coilovers
Solid front engine mount

I've got 14" P Slots too, so I can remove any bits to make the car more standard. The car is in good condition and its been my daily driver for the past 9 months, but in the next 4 weeks, its got to go. I'd hope to get £1200 with all the bits listed above - is that realistic?

For some wierd reason I can't view your project thread to see any pics of the work you have done. £1200 is pretty steep for a MKII 8v so it would need to be in excellent condition with plenty of MOT and Tax (6 months plus at least). Is the spray job inside as well as out or is it still green in the boot/bonnet?

Not wishing to upset you but you'll find these older MKII's tend to fetch better money in original condition. I would say if it's tidy, with plenty of MOT and test I would say ballpark £800 for the car. I would say you're best off selling the 6 spokes seperatly for extra cash.

You could try viewing my thread on E38 (http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64545&st=20), not sure why its not viewable on here - I can see it fine ;) The spray job is just outside, engine bay is still green :(

I can return it back to original nick, I've still got the...

Normal engine mount
14" P Slots
Full rainbow interior

I could keep the wheels as I think the PCD is the same for the Mazda (bonus!). Without the wheels and interior, I'd happily drop the price by £400.

Wots wrong with RWD?????????? It is how it should be.

Unfortunatly if your car is a dfferent colour on top to what it is underneath, the resale value decreases. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if I were to look at a car and found that, I would walk away. This does not detract from the hard work obviously gone into the car, but the resale value would be affected.  :embarassed:

I'd probably just be tempted to strip it for parts if there wasn't any interest. Theres more than enough removable bits that I could sell on - it would be a shame to do it to the car but if it doesn't sell its no use anyway. I am holding off on buying the MX5 until I have sold my Peugeot (http://tinyurl.com/yoxb8a), otherwise I'll end up having 4 cars!

I plan on finishing the Golf to 100% before sale and when I buy my compressor and bits I might re-spray the visible green bodywork.
