Just the other day there was a learner in a Cooper S doing reverse parking next to my car. Needless to say I watched out the window to make sure there was no contact.

As much as it would have been nice to drive a WRX or Evo, there is no way in hell id like to LEARN to drive in one. It was hard enough learning in my little 1.2 Corsa, let alone a 2.0T salon.

Crazy if you ask me.

you guys understand why they do it though dont you?

They do the same thing here is Aus. I have seen Subaru WRX's and Mitsubishi EVO's are learner cars - they want to attract people to learn how to drive.

Think about it, if you were 16 or 17 and learning to drive, would you pick the company that has GTi's as learner cars or Toyota Yaris's????

I know what I would choose.

why not ferrari, lambo, or even better up - a viper? It's really easy car to drive, especially in wet.

I learnt to drive in a brand new white Nova GTE... It was pretty cool in 1988!  Better than the MK1 Renault 5 GTL that I had waiting for me at home when I passed.

I learned in Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 T-Spark. The pedals were sporty as hell. When I later changed to Volvo, my feet kept going into the floor for a while.  Also, 156 had no engine noise isolation (what is it called?) compared to Volvo. I always thought engine was about to explode when I pushed over 4000 rpm.  :lipsrsealed: :embarassed:

....The GTI tends to scream at high revs, but everything is under ECU control and there's no problem.
