MOT BLUES...Break it, fix it or just scrap it??

After nearly a year a half I got my Monza Blue valver tested today and it failed on -

every brake pipe corroded

load sensing valve seized (is it time for Mr Hammer?)

both rear discs pitted (have new ones in shed!)

service brake / parking brake efficency below requirements

offside rear braking system (started leaking during test )

and a couple of crappy things I can fix in minutes I'm annoyed I missed myself...

they commented on how good the rest of the car was especially with 230k on the clock!

Got to admit I've never messed with brake pipes before after doing a head gasket on my now sold 8v I'm tempted to try it - how hard are they to do and where is the best place to  get them? or should I just cut my losses...

tbh it wouldnt even cross my mind to do anything else other than fix it... seems a waste if only things like that are failing it, all straight forward and reletivly cheap to fix... maybe a little time consuming but if your in no rush then may as well do it...

Nothing worth getting stressed over on that fail sheet... I get p!ssed off every time one of mine fails and feel like selling up. It's only temporary though crack on, get yer spanners out.

^^^ As above, get it fixed and happy days   At least you know when its fixed thats it, if you buy another car you might just be buying more problems than have already, trust me I've done it

Fix

I was gonna do all my pipes previously, but havent had chance to.. 25ft of copper brake pipe is less than £10, a flaring and bending kit is only £20 tops, the little pipe end unions i've got a huge tub of going to waste PM me if you want some to do it with 

I was quoted £150 by a garage for every pipe to be done as well, a vw specialist at that..

Cheers for the replies you guys  - you've have made me feel a load better already  - I've just picked it up from the test place with my dad (had to get it towed as they wouldn't let me drive it) and it just looks such a sound car I think I'll just have to keep it - I think I'll have a go myself - tbh the bit that looks scary is the engine bay piping (the old KR engine bloody fills it!!) - I might end up harrassing some of you with a few PM me thinks!

mine failed yesterday on parking brake efficiency - didn't register anything on machine - wheel off and gave the handbrake mech a wiggle back and forward. The passed easily its made a massive difference to the hold of the hand brake as well!

PS the smoked crystal LHD headlamps will pass an MOT!
