Power steering blues
« on: 19 February 2004, 10:16 »
Hi All,

My girlfriends golf powersteering is mis-behaving, When the wheel is turned during driving, the steering goes light then if turned a bit more goes back to normal again. It does not do this every day, but sometimes it can catch you out, especially on roundabouts as you can sometimes oversteer.
Took it to a garage to check it out, but that day it was behaving so did not get to the root cause.

Any ideas?????  ???

Cheers  :)

i've heard this can happen when its wet due to water splashing up on the belt, if its happened in the dry i'd hazard a guess that replacing the powersteering belt or maybe tightening it would help.

actually i think i read it on this forum so have a search :)
