noisy radiator fan

Has anybody experienced problems with a noisy radiator fan?
Can the mechanism be taken apart and greased or is this not possible?

Yeah my fan is well noisey, discovered it the other day when it sounded like a jet fighter was under the bonnet

Ive just bought a second hand motor from this guy but I did wonder that if I could squeeze a bit of greese in there?? bolts for the fan shroud are prob gonna break when I try and sort it anyways  :lipsrsealed:

more than likely the fan bearing has gone, so when it kicks in, it keeps shaking, and catching the fan cowling. Happened to mine when i was at santa pod, had to do a quick fan change over inbetween runs. Great fun.

It seems there are a number of different fan types on the MK2.
My fan has two pins on the male part of the connector attached to the back of the fan.
All i could find in the scrap yard were 3 pin fans but these were not off GTI's.
Anybody know the correct part number for a 2 pin fan for a 1988 GTI 16v k-jet, engine type KR?
