problem with window/speakers/locking on L reg GL
« on: 17 July 2007, 14:58 »
this is kind of weird...
...neither of the passenger side speakers work in the front, although i have tested the connections and power (6v) is getting to both of them
...you cant open the car from the passenger side with the key and if you lock it from the inside it wont lock the rest of the doors but, it will open fine when the car is unlocked from the driver's side
...the electric window does not work at all on the switch but will open/close fine on the key
...and finally, the mirror DOES WORK fine...any ideas?

cheers guys

Is the central locking electric or pneumatic (working with an air/vacuum pump in the boot) ?
The pneumatic system was fitted to the Mk2 and then the early Mk3's and can get problems if an air pipe gets a hole or disconnected.
If you have electric central locking, then you may have a problem with either the wiring to the door or with the control unit.

could be a knackered switch for the electric window... try plugging in the switch from the other side and see if that works...

My Mk3 has the pneumatic system and is a '97 model, which is a late one?

Ah.
I couldn't remember whether my old L reg Mk3 had pneumatic or electric central locking, I thought it had been electric.
