i know its for a vr6 but is the ecu relay and fuel pump relays on this, if so what numbers are they, i need a mk3 gti 16v relays if this is where they go would help a lot as im a dumbass with mechanicals due to not much experince in engine apart from basics, im better bodywork and car knowledge

if it is i may be able to get a fuse box with relays in of a breaking car,

i fyou know would be much appreciated as is all your help

also if the coil pack fails what happens can this be causeing my rough running through the revs to an dlumpy ness on idle and hesitent through revs and hesitant afte rgear changes i know peopl esaid about they relays so thought id try them first, i might just take it to a vw speicialist round the corner there expensive but should know there stuff, but want to try a few things first my self if can find the thing :grin: :huh:

Well on my 8v GTi relay 30 is the ECU and Relay 167 is the fuel pump oddly enough one of these buggers is playing up for me as well, considering that I replaced both of them 4months ago.

My problem is that when the cars cold the revs drop when i'm driving them pick up again it never cuts out although it feels like it will.  I can hear a relay clicking when this happens.

^^^ first mate did you buy new VAG OE relays? Some of the other types are crap! Think its the grey ones!

Paid the extra and bought straight from VW dealer with the ones saying 'made in germany' on them.

Yes - I too replaced the very same relays from the dealer as no 30 was definitely u/s, but noticed recently they get rather warm - hot you could say. Usually with relays this is is largely down to a poor contact somewhere, so I cleaned up the relay tangs with emery paper, bent them a bit to impove the contact with the relay box spade connector, gave it a spray of WD40 and no further problems so far.... just a thought
