basically im after a bit more class and some good realibilty so out with the fords and in with the VW's .

im after getting a golf turbo . got £4k tops to spend . ive been looking for a nice clean 3 dr .

now the bit i dont know about is what should the car have with it and what is fitted extras . i dont want to go and buy the first one i see then realise its a basic one and i could have got more for my money if i had held on .

right , as i understand it they are 1.8 20v turbo engines pushing out 150bhp .

but ......... ive seen some that have 180 in brackets not 150 ?? is this a factory option ??

the rear head rests ? are these factory extras or only on later models ??

ive been told to get one with the bigger recaros in ?? now ive seen some pics of the interior and some seem to have blueish or redishh recaros in witch soom biggish where as others seem to have black and greyish seat that look more basic ?it mite be the pics thouh , so is there decent front seats and back seats fitted ?

traction control , climate control , A/C , anti dazzle rear mirror ??????

are these extras again ?

and when are they due cambelt and tensioner changes ........

i will be looking at S regs to maybe W regs so if some of what ive asked is only on the later ones that explains that .

sory if these questions seem basic but i juts want to get a nice one ............and pics will follow !!!

cheers peeps

You'll probably be best posting this is in the mk4 section mate!

Btw, i think the 180bhp engines were only found in the Anniversaries

You would be better off looking in the Mk4 section, but if memory serves correctly the 1.8 T was initially available with 180bhp, but then was dropped to 150bhp for later cars then with just the anniversary model having 180bhp.
It'll be easier to find older Mk4 1.8 Turbos for your budget, I think you'll struggle to find a mint low mileage car for that money, but you should be able to find something.
They're good cars by all accounts, and a little work and remap should see you to 200bhp, then there's all sorts of fun to be had.

Welcome to the Dub-side, enjoy.
