Break help
« on: 31 May 2007, 13:17 »
I know its not a MK2 Golf but it shares loads of the same parts  I have taken the caliper off my Audi 80 2.0 16v Sport as it was binding onto my disc. Anyway i have ordered a new caliper from Euro Car Parts for this afternoon. I managed to release the hose going to the caliper at the bottom but whilst trying to release the top part (top part being the rubber bit that meets the copper bit) the copper bit snapped. I dont know what to do now. It snapped right by the bolt from copper to rubber, about 7-9mm above bolt on copper bit.

Please help!

This is my only form of transport at the mo' as have sold my 8v GTI and 16v GTI so only have my Audi.

Probably gonna need to replace the whole line, you might be able to get a new fitting & flare it depending how much length you have, but its not copper line its steel as std on VAG cars so you need a heavy duty flare tool.  If you follow the line all the way back to the other end and disconect it, then bring the lot into your local garage they should make you up a new hose for next to nowt.
