warning First Direct
« on: 07 May 2007, 16:00 »
This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, luckily I found out before I needed to make a claim. I gave all details on line including previous insurer and policy no. Paid the premium (November 3rd) and then the trouble started. They asked for my renewal notice and copy of licence which they claimed had been requested in a previous letter. This was sent but 3 further requests were made and 2 of my letters were ignored. Just before xmas I received a letter threatening to cancel my policy if I did'nt send another £86. It took 45 mins. to get someone on the phone who, in a recorded call admitted they had received my documents. January and another demand for the same items. Another phone call, only 25 mins this time, and fearing real problems in the event of a claim asked to terminate the policy. I was told this would cost £36 to be deducted from the return of premium. February I received a letter asking for return of insurance certificate.  I wrote threatening to involve the ombudsman and again requesting a full pro rata refund due to their inability to manage my policy. I eventually received a cheque for the correct amount.  This company is part of HSBC group and as Sir Alan might say "the're a bloody shambles"

Respect for keeping on top of them! It's easy to just pay them to get off your back and I know how frustrating it is to repeat yourself over and over to get your way.
