Mk3 Spoiler with Brake light
« on: 06 May 2007, 22:54 »

I have just got this off ebay.... What Versions of the Mk3 was this actually fitted to?  i have never see it before, don't think i like it as much as the GTI one but it will do as my GTI one fell off the other day

I guess im going to need to pain it red as well.   Unless i could get away with black. not sure yet.

Hey, that's an aftermarket spoiler, so it was never fitted from factory or dealership.

Ahhhh i see.

I did notice that all the Spoilers on the Mk3s over in Iceland all have rear brake lights.  I don't think they were the same as this but did VW make a GTI spoiler with the light?

Its not bad for £16 anyway, at least i can bolt this one on :P

yeh, they made one... I had one fitted to my old mk3 (diy job) but a genuine vw part, made by votex I think. been trying to find one, but no luck in uk, saw one on ebay.de but it finished at around £80 inc postage to uk so I didn't bother, just fitted a genuine vw 3rd high light on the inside of the tailgate, and replaced the bulbs with leds.

£16 is cheap

I got one for my mk3 years ago, and iirc, it was £180  :undecided:

Thats the same one as I have bought, but without the brake light.
Yes it does bolt on but only at the sides and you have to drill through two layers of steel.

Not done mine yet  so if you get around to it before I do then pass on any tips!

That would be great, thanks. vise versa if i do mine first

Do you think i should spray it back or red?  (car is red)   I can do black ok but i find the red in cans is a little dull compared to the original paintwork.  I should Imagen it would be pricey if i have it done proply.
