16v gti induction kit

Hi i have a mk2 16v gti engine code (KR)

I have recently ordered a big bore intake pipe for the car and i was just wondering what advantages a induction kit would have with that. i have seen the pipecross induction kits for my car that replace the bottom of the air filter box are they worth spending £90 on.

From experience all they do is make a noise and eat petrol!!

the best option (imo) is to keep the existing airbox but drill a couple of good size holes in the left side and remove the crap from the front. fit a K&N panel filter.
sounds Excellent and gives same benefits as an induction kit - works great in my 16v with 4 branch manifold and full system.

tom26 how easy is it to change the manafold on these cars as i have been looking in to getting it done?

^^^ he'll tell you how easy it is to make the tea, buy biscuits etc while i change it for him! it wasn't too bad to be honest, apart from the old exhaust being welded togetehr which made removing it a swine!

The airbox mod is a piece of cake. (must be if i managed it!) I would also recommend replacing all the vacuum housing which is dead cheap and if you're taking the airbox out it's easy to get to all of it! just be careful not to snap any of the small plastic end pieces that the vacuum hose attaches to as these (as i discovered) are brittle.

some 16v golfs have a removable section at the front left of the airbox and a plastic panel in the wing. Makes th insuction noise sucks in cold air and you can clip it back on and it's back to normal.
