Crank Sensor?
« on: 27 April 2007, 21:10 »
Could someone tell me where to locate the Crank Sensor on my Golf GTi (ADY Engine), I've looked in the Haynes manual but there's no reference to it?

And also is it better the buy a replacement direct from the local VW dealer or another aftermarket dealer, only there's quite a price difference?

Hi,

I had a Mk3 Gti with a AGG engine and the sensor was located near the oil filter on the front of the engine behind the front engine mount. You "should" be able to trace the electrical connector from near the starter motor to the sensor.

I brought my replacement one from Ebay for about £44 where as the dealers wanted over £100 !!!!

Hi mate, i got mine from Euro Car Parts for about 50 quid... its not hard to do, you have to remove the front engine mount and then you will be able to see it mounted with an allenkey head bolt!! takes about 2hrs..I think its a case of removing starter motor and then the front mount and you have access to it then.
