16v manifold bolts - nightmare
« on: 21 April 2007, 20:02 »
one of mine manifold gaskets has gone, i got 7 out of the 8 copper nuts off, but the 8th that sits at the bottom 2nd in from the right if looking from the top, i cant get off for love nor money, i cant see the state of it because of where it is , a ratchet wont fit as there isnt any room, nor will a 12mm ring spanner b'cos the nut is rounded (i guess), has anyone please got some ideas on what i can do?

cheers

buy yourself a set of good molegrips, will make short work of it :)
If that fails a dremel will work, its tricky but eventually you'll get there!

HAVE A LOOK ON EBAY IN THE TOOLS SECTION FOR IRWIN TOOLS THEY DO A SET OF WHAT LOOK LIKE SOCKETS THAT REMOVE ROUNDED AND RUSTED NUTS ETC THEY CAN BE USED WITH A RATCHET OR A SPANNER AND THEY DO WORK A TREAT

rich they wont be any good on the nut he speaks of, its the one which is right under the downpipe so can only be accessed by a ring spanner!

you can get a ring spanner on them but it just depends if you get enough clearance
