Wheels!

Hi everyone, my mk2 golf is on its way back to the road and ive been trawling ebay for some new wheels to fit to her with new tyres, im assuming that tyres left on a car for 9 months probably arent going to be much use! (plus gives me an excuse to give her more fashionable shoes!) I've seen that a lot of the bbs wheels are for beemers and wanted to ask if anyone knows exactly which models wheels fit the golf? i've already discovered the E30 is a contender, does anyone know of any others? other makes of car that fit welcome too! 

Well just been looking again and wondering if the E30 really is a contender, not really clued into what the offset of a wheel means, anyone can help fill me in? Golf one is 33 from what i see?

Insomniacs rule, OK.
The offset of a wheel is the amount of ´dish´ the wheel has for a given size. ie, the position of the wheel hub in relation to the wheel well.

Lol indeed, i blame it on the coffee i need to get me through work during the day! cheers for that, much clearer now, i shall continue my search, hope that search for the sebring alloy works out!

HAHA i know what ya feeling pal! im not lucky enough to be in sunny spain though!!!!  i do work in a nice warm hangar however!

e30 beemers generally have an offset of about 25 which is pretty low for a standard golf. if you're planning on lowering it by anything more than 40mm you might get some rubbing on the rear. golf alloys generally are et35/38.

So without lowering it im fine? Im keeping the gti standard so there wont be any lowering going on, costing me 2 get her back on the road but i love it too much, what is it about them!

I have E30 wheels on my mk2 and they catch (when driving enthusiastically over snake pass, for example) with standard height (if old and saggy) springs!

But they look the dogs dangleys, and I'd like to lower it, so I'll be looking at getting a bit of archwork done to accomodate

Only down the road from me, but wife would kill me for buying another set of alloys!!!

any beemer wheelsa that are 4 stud will do.  I had a set of 15" 7j ET24 wherels on my car, at the std ride height I had no problems whatsoever.  After I lowered it 40mm the fronts would catch a bit on harsh bumps and uneven cambers, but nothing to worry about.  Rears had stacks of room!
