Which seal could it be?
« on: 07 April 2007, 17:04 »
People have been commenting over the past 4 weeks that they think my car is leaking as i'm leaving spots all over the place

Had a quick peek under and the bottom of the engine was pretty much covered in oil and dirt, which i presume was the cause of dripping, checked oil level, seems fine, only did an oil change a few weeks back. Cleaned the bottom of the engine and i'm going to see if it starts leaking again but if it does which seal do you think it could be? How hard would it be to change?

It could be coming from anywhere!

Best bet if your looking to get it sorted is get on your back under the car and have a gander, if you still cant see where the source is it'll prob need a steam clean and then just follow the leak to the source.

I've just located the oil leak on my car, small sensor on top of the oil filter bracket has been pissing oil everywhere, I went to northampton last weekend and went through 22 litres of oil!!!!!! Cost me more in oil than petrol!!!!!!

jeez, well i havnt had to top up on oil yet so it's only a small leak if there is one, which i'm guessing it's going to be hell of a lot harder to trace to the source, think i'll go and have a gander at it see if it's any dirtier with oil stains :lipsrsealed:

my cars had a gearbox leak for 3 years!!, i just top it up every few months - sometimes its cheaper to live with it if its not serious than spend a fortune trying to fix. its cost me about £20 in gearbox oil in 3 years and thats livable
