Starter motor bush
« on: 02 April 2007, 12:55 »
I've just replaced my starter motor with a new Bosch unit.  It came with a new bronze bush to replace the one in the gear box.  This is the bush that the pinion shaft fits into. Anyone got ideas on how to get the old one out?

Wind a wheel bolt into it(or simular size) and pull it out with a pair of mole grips.
Dont forget to oil up the new one (place the bush on your thumb fill with eng oil then place your finger over the top so it covers it completly then squeeze untill you see oil ouzeing through the bush then just let the excess oil go  )
