Hi all,

Im picking up a '86 MK2 8v GTi tonight  :smiley:  Its done about 135,000 miles and seems to drive ok.
I fancied a golf for quite some time and it had to be a mk2. 
After running my e30 bimmer to the ground (forgot to look after it  :rolleyes: ) i relied on my bay window camper for a while but thats in the process of having some surgery (bigger carbs mmmm) so i needed
a cheap run a round and spotted the golf for sale on some of the aircooled forums.

Im from bristol and the aircooled dub scene mainly, I currently got :

72 Bay window camper - 1641 single weber twin choke progressive carb being upgraded to twin 40 IDF's
This is a runner but is having some problems at the moment hehe (well she is 34 years old  :laugh:)

72 1300 Beetle - Stock 1300 lump, but thats going to be majorly upgraded.  Heading towards the 2276cc idea with this one.  But thats a long way off, full of rust and currently in the garage with no floor and a huge hole in the rear quatre panel -- This is not a runner and a long term project

Mk2 Golf GTi 8v.  Dont know much about this yet, pickign it up tonight and i cant wait.  It appears to have a decent service history..but i dont know much about waterpumpers so i will be asking loads of questions probably!

Well what fun  :grin:

I picked it up from the guy, drove it to the nearest petrol station and filled her up with a tenners worth...

But guess what, she wouldnt start :) luckily I remebered to bring the jump leads and had to jump start her after failing to bump start.  Luckily the misses was behind me in her toyota.

Drove around for a bit, picked up my mate and had a bit of fun, she sure as hell pulls well!
The breaks on the other hand are evil.  The handbreak barely holds and she's not a fan of stopping for the lights!

I must admit, she responds much better than I expected for a 1986 car and was quite fun after the initial mishap.

Going to clean her up and take her for another spin tomorow (if the batterys alive)

had a bit of fun rallying her around yesterday but didnt really check it out much, This afternoon im going to look at it properly and take a pic or two.  Some parts are a bit rough and can do with some work..
