what to do with my mk2- ideas...

Hi all,

Im just not sure what to do with my mk2.

Here she is when i got her, a 1991 golf driver with 130'000 miles. Bought for £250. I specifically was looking for a mk2 in this colour but wanted a GTI, i havent come across one for ages so bought this driver.



Since Ive had it unfortunately there was an incident with a porsche and this happened:







I had bought a set of big bumpers with the intention of repairing them, painting them and fitting them but seen as this happended I had to whack the front one on for now, hence why the small indicators are in there!
SO now it looks like this:



The thing is, i have fully serviced it but the carb keeps playing up, I have the bumpers i need to paint and I have some speedline alloys to refurb. I would also have to fiddle with the engine and interior to get it how i want it. Was thinknig of a 2.0 bottom end, GTI camshaft and a twin choke webber carb but this all seems like too much hard work for me!

Do you think it would be better to work on this one seen as the colour is what i wanted or do you think it would be better to sell it and buy a GTI and paint it the right colour?
AHHH I just cant decide!
Anyone else got a pasedena blue i can droowl (sp?) at?!

i would wait for the right colour car you want , be prepared to travel, and have the cash waiting, you`ll get one in the end

does anyone have a gti in pasedena blue?

i found one once and was sooooo excited then i found out it had 170'000 miles, was thrashed, had classic signs of boy racer style all over it and they wanted £2k! i had to walk away from that one

If i were you, i would tidy up the driver (without spending too much cash, just put in some hard work) to get it looking original and running sweet and keep an eye out for the gti you want. Then when that comes along it shouldn't be too hard to sell your driver on, and you aren't waving goodbye to a shed load of cash you have spent on it.

^^^ what he said!!! Keep yours as you will be happy in the meantime and it will give you the patience to wait for exactly what you want. There will be one out there somewhere, I very nearly bought a pasedena blue mk2 gti with 22k on the clock a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it was the wrong colour for my search and only an 8v so I had to forget about it.

keep it, re spray in metal flake orange, evo front grill, halfords spoiler, 17'' chrome wheels with spinners...
