replacement headlight for xenon
« on: 05 March 2007, 11:12 »
does anyone know if there would be any issues with using a 'copy' headlight with xenon's?

I need to replace my drivers side headlight as it got smashed on the weekend, however VW are saying about £350 for the headlight and lucas are saying £80 for a copy

now the one i've got is glass and the man at lucas said their copy would most probably be plastic, is this going to be an issue?

personally i'd rather get a genuine VW part but don't know if the extra £ is going to be worth it.

well by the looks of things, its only the main dealers that sell the proper replacements for the xenons.

apparently the cheaper headlights i'd been quoted for were for the standard halogen without fog.  Also the proper replacement comes with the starter and some other clever stuff hence the price, either way this should turn up at the dealers tomorrow, so hope to be back on the road Thursday lunch time.

Also i was informed by the bloke on the part desk who was quite helpful that the lamp protectors are compatible with the MK4 xenons however the MK5 protectors can't be used with the MK5's bi-xenons
