Mk2 Dash Speakers JBL's seem too big?
« on: 24 February 2007, 17:52 »
Help! I thought I had a real bargain when I scooped some 3.5” JBL GTO327’s on fleabay.

IÂ’ve ust spent all day playing with a new aerial and head unit install, but the dam dash speakers donÂ’t seem to fit? They have a fitting depth of 37 mm, which seems too big, or at least on the N/S where they seem to touch on the bulkhead.

Has any one had the same experience with JBLÂ’s or InfinityÂ’s? Any ideas?

I had to fairly much force one of my infinitys in, can't remember which side. I remember getting a bit of a hacksaw blade into the dash so i could change the way round the speaker went in so it fitted.  I think i rotated it either 180 or 90 degrees.

Thanks for that,
I did speak to a nice guy from Southside Audio who used to advertise in Golf+, but he had not heard of any such probs. Still not sure what to do though? Put them back on Ebay or have another go when it stops raining!
