Autoglym v's Safegard

Contacted my dealer today with reagrd to having Autoglym Lifeshine put on my Edition 30 when it arrives, only to be told that they use a product called Safegard, which they are saying has a more comprehensive warranty and enhanced longevity, they claim it is a better bet, although i can still get Lifeshine through parts if required.
Does anyone know anything about it ?

Got the Autoglym Lifeshine on mine - only product the dealer offered. Don't pay full retail though, haggle and get a substantial discount or for free as part of the deal - there are professional kits on eBay for pennies but care is needed in the initial application process. Currently using Meguires products to maintain my car - Gold Class shampoo, Scratch X, Quick Clay, 3 Step System - Cleaner Liquid Wax, Deep Crystal Polish and Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax. Looks good on Diamond black as long as you wash very carefully to avoid the dreaded swirl marks :wink:

Thanks Cass, My Dealership group said they changed to this product a year ago, but i have never heard of it. I don't feel confident enough to do it myself though, will try and get the price down if i can, Tried to haggle over the cost of GAP insurance this morning as i can get the same cover through a broker using AXA for approx. £130 cheaper, but they would only budge by £50.

Dealers have big profit margins on some extras such as this - thay all add to their profit in the deal. Go with the cheapest to save you money if they are like for like quotes, especially if they haven't discounted your car. Haven't heard of Safeguard - ask them who manufactures it, are their staff trained to apply it and is the product warranted. If there are any issues you can either refuse/reject it. I'm sure that any good, professional car detailer could apply the Autoglym or similar type of product properly and at a very competitive price anyway. Bear in mind that any swirl marks on your new car will have come from the supplying dealer - they are not professional detailers and mine arrived that way on delivery day :angry:!!!

USE NEITHER........
From my experience go for "ZYMOL" products.
Especially on black you get superb results (if you put the work in) : :grin:
