MK2 Blaring Horn !!!!
« on: 08 February 2007, 19:22 »
Hi Everyone, I've got a F reg 89 Mk2, but recently I've major problems with the horn going off for no reason. It used to be intermittent, especially when I tried to used the rear wash/wipe, or pressed the steering wheel towards the facia when turning a corner. But today it went off full blast and wouldn't turn off  The circuit board that deals with the computer display needs replacing, but would that have an effect? Or could it be a problem with the immobiliser? I've got an Autowatch 160i. Thanks for looking.

Maybe it's the contacts between the steering wheel and the cover or maybe the earth?

Take the cover off the steering wheel and have a look in there...is it a standard steering wheel?

Hi Tim, it's a standard steering wheel, and to my knowledge has never been taken off. But it's the intermittent factor that's doing my head in, until of course it went off today!

pull the wheel and have a look.  If the horn stops sounding with the wheel off, you've found the problem ;)
