Hi again,

I decided to change the sensors myself and am having a bit o' a time of it! Both of them broke apart whilst trying to remove them- doh! Anyway, managed to burn off the front one with a blow torch and it's now fine- vag-com only reporting the rear one and the handbrake light is off, yey!

However, the rear one is a different matter, looks like I'll have to remove the disc and the haynes manual is pretty vague about this. Being a skin flint and stubborn I don't want to shell out for a garage, can anyone give me some pointers with pics? Any replys much appreciated!

Hi again,

I got myself a cable and the shareware vag-com program, what a find! Anyway, it's complaining about being unregistered but comes up with 2 fault codes for my abs.

1 00285 (program tells me this is the front offside sensor)

2 00287 (program tells me to go and buy the registered version, looked it up on gendan, rear offside sensor)

Can anyone tell me what the best course of action would be now?

The good thing is it comes up with no faults on the engine.

But, it's just started the (common I'm told) cold start issue, ie. it needs throttle to start, idles too slow, needs revs to keep going  and sounds rough. Once warmed up (2 or 3 minutes) it runs fine though. Any suggestions?

Hi Totzo

I've just found the shareware VAG-COM application and am going to download it this evening. Being lazy, can you tell me what cable needs to be used and where it can be plugged into the car?

Cheers

l55lee,

I got my cable on ebay for £15 it plugs into a socket left of the ashtray. (pull the ashtray out and the cover slides off rightwards)
