How many miles from an 8V engine
« on: 14 January 2007, 17:34 »
My 8V has done 140K, its been taken care of with regular servicing etc. No noises, rattles etc and garage that serviced it said it was in good nick.

How many miles can you expect to get out of an 8V engine if its looked after ?
Virtually everything I know about the workings of the internal combustion engine can be written on the back of a small stamp with a large marker

In my experience, it's the rest of the car that falls apart before a regularly serviced engine.... I had a megane that did 150K and was ready to bin suspension / bushes wise, but the engine was near perfect

Cheers jonny, helpful as always.

The engine looks well looked just wanted to get peoples opinions. I dont plan on clocking up shed loads of miles, I just use it for weekend driving as I walk to work.

Mines done 144k - actually went past the strange looking 144,444 mark this week.

I hope I'm not tempting fate by posting this but all seems good and strong compression test wise..

If you want a better idea of the condition of your high miler a compression test is a must.

If you got to change the old plugs check the colour and condition of them ala Mr Haynes manuals famous guide..
