big bumper mount....
« on: 02 January 2007, 19:11 »
my bumper is drooping on the drivers side wing...

I can pull the bumper off the wing enough to see behind it, it looks like the part of the bumper the slides over the mount that is fixed to the wing, has broken allowing the bumper to drop off the mount. are these replaceable or is it a moulded part of the bumper.. i.e. do I need a new bumper??

hope not

cheers

the brackets do pop up on ebay every so often but they aren't cheap.

i have seen em sell for around £60 per pair. they are plastic riveted to the bumper.

you have a few options: source a new/used bumper with brackets intact.
make your own brackets. i did this on mine and it is spot on.

just get some metal about 3-4 mm thick bend it at 90 degrees, cut to fit and screw it into the remaining plastic on the bumper bracket

I got a set from the scrap yard (£2) as one side had a broken mount, but ended up doing a above. You get a much tighter fit (and more adjustmet) with a home made mount/bracket. The ones from scrap yard made the front bumper hang a little low and loose for me even though they we fitted spot on.

i drilled them off the broken bumper, and had a spare to nick the brackets from. Can't remeber how i attached them though...

as Ktuludays says, just get a bit of tin & make up a new bracket and rivet it to the existing bracket!!
