Golf 2 litre GTI Questions From a VW virgin
« on: 02 January 2007, 21:42 »
alright fellas

New to the forum and to be honest i'm new to Golfs and Modding so you may have to bare with me slightly as my knowledge is basic at best.

I have just purchased a Golf GTI (2000 model) after owning fairly standerd cars and its spurred me on to make it the best car it can be so heres my questions

first of all is it possible to chip this model if so what would i be looking to pay?

i would also like any information on getting the car lowered, prices? best places to go? etc.. as i have just put some 18 inch konig unknowns on it and think it needs it now both for the look and the handling.

i am from teeside and would like to know if anyone has any idea of reliable places to buy styling products and get work done, any websites that could be of help would be appreciatted to (if it doesnt brake any forum rules that is)

theres probs loads more stuff i want to ask but wont overload ya with questions just yet.

thanks in advance

someone on here might know where to go but if not try www.demonvw.co.uk and there is some guys on there and they call themselves section 5 they are from around your area they should know some good places

lowering wise if you can afford it get some coilovers ie kw ones

remap/chip possibly around 300-400 pounds and you will possibly only get 15-20 bhp more ( the 1.8 turbo is better to chip)

any more info regarding the lowering?

i'm in the fortunate situation to have a bit of cash to spend most months so as long as they arent over the top expensive they will probs be a possiblilty.

i really am just learning and i'm as green as grass when it comes to cars period so any help is much appreciatted

cheers

Yeah, if like you say you are fortunate enough to have some spare cash then coilovers are a must. Ive lowered mine on 18's but only had the funds to change the springs and although the handling is fun the ride can get lumpy!!!

Hope this helps mate.
