Worth a try, its one of the likly suspects for random cutting out!
Its not too bad to change, if you bend a screwdriver you can just get it off without removing the ign lock surround.  Fiddly tho!

So you mean i can replace it without having to take off the steering lock and those shear bolts haynes mention? Do you know of anywhere that sells complete lock sets so i don't have odd keys? Cheers for all your help btw, i owe you many beers if i meet you!

No need to touch the shear bolts even if you do take the ign lock housing off.  No need to worry about lock sets either, just replace the switch not the lock ;)
