Rear Parking Sensor - Doc please.

Just enquiring Doc if you ever got round to doing as "how to" for fitting rear parking sensors. The wife asked me what I want for Xmas and that may be a good idea altho I would have to fit them as I'm not sure of her automotive skills!

Is it Steelmate ones you go for? Do you sell them or who is best to buy from?

I think the last time you said it would be possible to fit them in the black plastic of the bumper to save on having to colour code the sensors?

Yes and I think they look neater!

Where do you live?

Why not come over and spend a couple of hours watching and taking photos of me fitting them for you FOC (You pay for product @£60-£100 ish and I will provide labour!)?

Is there no-one close to Doc who wants to take him up on his brilliant offer of free fitting. If I was closer I would be right round, to get the sensors fitted proefessionally for only £60-£100 is a bargain and then we would all get pics to see how its done.

In the other post about sensors a large strong beam in the rear bumper was mentioned. Do I aim to avoid this or is this where the sensors are mounted. Drilling and positioning them is the only bit that scares me a little to be honest.

Quick question, Why the steelmate - can they be colour coded ?

From another forum the laserline were recomended with colour coding and looking like a flush fit ?

It's down to personal choice - I think that steel mate are the closest thing to factory and can be colour coded.

I have laserline ones on the shelf but there a pain to fit so they will be there for a while!

Like this option personally - wonder when it will be out and at what cost. No doubt some link will be required to get it to work with the VW DVD Sat Nav unit.

Here's a question for you Doc..........

If I was deciding between fitting rear parking sensors or a bluetooth kit, which is the easier job. Might get one or other for Xmas but would fit myself and want to know which job is likely to be the least hassle. Your guide on the bluetooth kit is brilliant.

Also do you have experience of the Parrot bluetooth kits, how do they compare with the Nokia you fitted in your guide. Parrot is attractive because of the screen to show caller etc and the ability to manage calls from there.

Car phone kit is easiest to fit!

The parrot kit is just as easy to fit and the choice is down to personal preference / vehicle / usage
