bloomin cold weather
« on: 08 November 2006, 12:26 »
since having my 1.4 golf it's been a good car and still is, however i now have a problem and i dont know what the problem could be.

Every morning i turn the keys and the starter motor turns and makes funny noises and then stops, so i turn the ignition off and try again and it will do the same. If i remove the keys and try again it may do the same again or will fire. I'm guessing it's because of the cold weather but do i need a new battery, alternator or starter motor or is it a general problem with golfs?

It sounds as if when it's cold the starter motor hasnt got enough juice to turn the engine properlyso i dunno.

funny noise could well be the starter motor but first thing i would do is get your car down to your local motor factors and get them to test the battery and alternator first - they should do it for free...you'll be able to isolate the problem then
