Golf Gti 16v - front wheel arch (UPDATE: VAG do still make them!)

I actually emailed gpcvwaudi a week ago regarding it and haven't had a response. I've sent them another email and I'll call them i tomorrow as well.

All they have listed on their website is

WHEEL ARCH GTI 90 SPEC.....................£22.50

Hardly the most in depth part description ever! Hopefully that's the one I want though.

That ebay auction is the right arch, but the trim strip is snapped off.  You can easily pinch one off a scrappy MK2, but it will need to be stuck down somehow as there is only 1 mounting lug on it so it will rattle about.

191 853 717 C - left front - £20.93
191 853 718 C - right front - £20.93

I think you need the RHS one, its not discontinued from what I can see either, give http://www.gpcvwaudi.com a ring as well, they supply VAG parts at bargain prices

Just noticed on the ebay auction the seller has stated the part has a number: 191 853 718 D. Rubjonny - that's the same as the one you've put (apart you have a C and the ebay guy has a D at the end of it - what's the difference?)

191 853 718 D is for a G60 front arch, whoops should have noticed that
It will fit but as its bigger than a std GTI arch it will look odd

The gpc website is about 8 years out of date!!!
Your best bet is to give them a call and speak to julian. However I did overhear him telling somebody at inters a couple of years ago that the arch trims he had then were the last he was likely to have. Looks like they are becoming hard to find. Let us know if you find a stash somewhere, I want a complete set for mine at some point to replace some with slight scuffs.

Well it turns out that you can still get a VAG part. I ordered a RHF arch trim from my local VW dealer.

Part numbers are

191 853 717 C - left front - £20.93
191 853 718 C - right front - £20.93

I presume you can still get the rears as well.



All went okay fitting the new arch apart from the rust down near the bottom of the arch (as circled in red on the pic).

The very last rivet in that area couldn't go into it's original hole due to corrosion so we had to drill a new hole in the arch trim and to the car body and stuck the last rivet in.

That's cool to hear you can still get them from VAG, will have to get round to ordering a set pretty soon.
