Help with drive shaft info please.
« on: 23 October 2006, 16:40 »
Hi all,

I'm a newbie and I bought my 1990 mk2 gti 16v yesterday and covered 200+ miles in it and now the front passenger side is knocking.

From what I can gather its the front outer cv joint, I've looked at gsf car parts and they sell just the outer joint for 40 odd quid, however I'm just wondering can I just change the outer joint or do I have to do the whole driveshaft?

All info greatly appreciated.

Cheers

nah you can just do the outer c.v. joint. realy easy to do as well, with a little common sense and a haynes manual.

you'll need a very long breaker bar in order to get enough leverage to get the hub nut off!!
