Knackered Glove Box

MkIII 2.0 GTI 8V.

OK an odd one I know but I busted the handle off my glove box at the weekend, it just ripped right out!!

How do I open it to fix the damn thing?

I had this one happen to me. And it was locked so i couldnt open the thing. And it had my stereo in it. damn.

Can't do a thing but take it to a VW Garage. Well thats what i did. Said it was a simple job but didnt specify. Needed a new catch.

Good luck if you can find an alternative.

I,ve done the the same but if you get a wide blade screw driver you can lever it open from the top. this bends the lug a little but can be bent back to shape no problem. a new handle is about ?8 from volkspart. They are brand new and original volkswagen parts ata fraction of the price from the main dealer

Have managed to fix it, ripped out the handle, leaves a hole, top left of the plate, used a driver to push down the release switch behind the plate and she popped open.

Had to go to VAG dealer to get part (volsapart were out of stock), only cost ?9.30 so not the usual ripoff. Putting new one in was easy, just remember to hold key in the lock tumbler when you cut it out of the old plate.
