Mk2 suspension???
« on: 18 October 2006, 20:43 »
Hi all. Thinking of putting new suspension on my valver. Don't want it to look to low, perhaps a 20mm drop max. Seen a weitec kit for sale on ebay for £160. Which is the best kit for the money? What kind of drop would you recommend for better handling and improved looks? Just don't want to be too low. Still to sit on my 15"ra's. Cheers.

ironically i just posted a few days ago about suspension , imo and alot of others opinion for the price range your looking at go for the bilstein streetline kit , its only £180 brand new , lowers by 40mm which isnt too drastic. heres the website link

the streetline kits are midway down after you select bilstein category

40mm is a little more than I wanted. My area is sleeping policman/speed bump central! My previous car was lowered 40mm (not a mk2) and I forever smashed the front lip spoiler or caught the underbody.

Does anyone have a pic of a car lowered 40mm?

I'm 99% sure our golf is on a 60mm front, 40mm rear Weitec kit. Pics in my dub gallery :)

The eibach 20mm springs are £155. I can get a nearly new Weitec Ultra GT suspension kit for £160. Which is the best buy?

Go for the weitec kit it makes more sense than just fitting springs alone, if you still want to meet on saturday for those parts then I will take you out in mine, its got the same kit just a 60mm drop though, which is a problem.

Hmm this would depend totally on the condition of your existing shocks I think. If they are the original set you might be better off going for the Weitek kit. If your shocks are good, the Eibach springs are very very good in terms of a ride/handling compromise. In fact, the handling is not far off coilovers, with good comfort.
