MK4 golf gti 1.8T Blowing fuses to my ECU

Hi there,im new to this so i hope theres enough info.i have a superchipped x reg 1.8T gti golf mk4.it has been running fine apart from the air mass meter need replacin which doent seem to have made any difference as the light came back on a month later.The other day i was drivin along and the lights on my dash flashed up and the compuer said low oil pressure and the whole cars electrics failed.i was stranded,the aa where no use apart from towing me away.i have had a audi mechanic find there are no problems only a blown fuse to my ecu.we changed this and the car ran although rough due to excess fuel then when revved hard and got hot the fuse blew again and again.he told me he thought it was the ecu although ive also been told it could be anything.has anyone had a problem with an ecu and is this common and what should i try as i dont want to put lots of parts on i dont need.thanxs paul

I'm guessing - CAT 1 Lamda sensor. This is the sensor between the Catalitic converter and the manifold, hence hot and over rich on revs and rough running.

Chipped cars:- The only downside is that every thing else ith the management system has to be perfect.

Lamda sensor - about £95 plus vat - do not buy unless you get further opinions from people who know and have actually seen the  problem.

One other thing - write down everthing your mechanic played with and phone the Dealer, you may need a re-set on the diagnostic computer.
