NEED A ELECTRICAL PROB SOLVING PLEASE

hi my golf has a elctrical boot switch in the front so when i push unlock it unlocks the boot it is wired into the fag lighter and the cd player is wired into the fag lighter aswell but if i put the fag lighter thing in it blows the fuse it was fine till i decided to acidently put the fag lighter in i took it out nd put a new fuse in and it keept blowing it it was a number 10 fuse :sad: :sad:

so i fort f**k it and chucked a 25 in and the cd player works and the fag lighter has power to it BUT the boot wont open so i fort id put a meter at the back and see if and voltage gose down there but there was nothing any suggestions will b much apreciated

also....

i have a problem with the dash board light when i turn the beam on the dash dont light up but if i put a live to a blue and white cable in the car it all lights up strange as f**k but if could be solved id b sooo happy thanks ppl :nerd:

do you know the rating of the original fuse that blew? 10A? What might have happened is that after you put the 25Amp fuse in, and tried the boot, there might be something wrong with the boot solenoid that caused the fuse to blow in the first place. With the new higher rated fuse in, it'll draw current until something else blows, in your case it could be that the wiring for the boot solenoid has fried itself at some point.

Since you've got a multimeter, try and do a continuity check for the power lines running from the cig. lighter to the solenoid. (measure the resistance, should be <1ohm, if broken it'll read >>10Mohm for open circuit.)

cheers for ya help m8 very much apriciated it ended up being the earth wich was strange the bloke who wired it in must of not had a clue on wiring   :shocked: :shocked:
